Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Ecosystems

in the face of an uncertain future

In an environment marked by uncertainty—climate crises, geopolitical instability, digital and social transitions—entrepreneurship and innovation find themselves at a crossroads. Ecosystems in general, and entrepreneurial ecosystems in particular, are emerging as essential catalysts for connecting businesses, public actors, academic institutions, and civil society. Their ability to generate territorial and organizational resilience is a key condition for building the future we do not know (Autio et al., 2018; Theodoraki et al., 2018).

Artificial intelligence opens up new perspectives for the creation and development of innovation, but also raises questions about governance, transparency, and accountability (Nambisan, 2017; Kraus et al., 2023). Finally, business development, once focused solely on economic growth, is now forced to integrate shared value creation logic, with increased attention to the complexity of ecosystems, territorial stakeholders and sustainable development and social responsibility (SD&SR) objectives (George et al., 2016).
