SI:  “Sustainable governance and gender diversity in private and public sector “

The main objective of this special issue is to advance new insights into the nexus between public and private governance, sustainability governance, and gender diversity. While gender diversity within top management teams (TMTs) and boards of directors has received growing attention, its role in shaping sustainability governance and sustainability performance remains underexplored in management and governance research. This special issue aims to address this gap by bringing together original and high-impact contributions that help define a future research agenda at the intersection of governance, gender diversity, and sustainability governance.

We invite submissions that explore, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Climate change policy and sustainability governance
  • Public governance, private governance, and sustainability governance interactions
  • Ethical practices and sustainable governance
  • Climate justice, equality, and inclusive sustainability governance
  • Gender-diverse leadership and sustainability governance: how diverse lived experiences shape holistic policies
  • Gender diversity on boards of directors in public firms and sustainability governance outcomes
  • Urban planning, public governance, and sustainability resilience
  • Public policy instruments supporting sustainability governance (e.g., subsidies, mandates, regulations)
  • Equity, inclusiveness, and integration across sectors and governance levels
  • The role of sustainability governance in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions)
  • Capacity-building for women leaders in sustainability governance

Manuscripts submitted to this special issue should present original research and make a clear contribution to theory, policy, and/or practice in the field of sustainability governance. Papers should be submitted to the International Journal of Business Governance and Ethics through ScholarOne and prepared in accordance with the journal’s Guide for Authors. Submissions must be made via the journal’s editorial management system.
